BOB'S KNOBS FOR NEWTONIAN PRIMARY COLLIMATION
|
Common Newtonian-style
telescope primary configurations: Many different brands exist (such as
Zhumell, GSO, Hardin Optical, Orion, Celestron, Meade) with similar primary mirror systems. Our knobs for the
Meade Lightbridge will fit many of these other brands. If our
photographs match your primary, our knobs will probably fit
your telescope. We can also design custom knobs for your application.

Common Newtonian-style telescope secondary
configurations: Most mass-produced Newtonian telescopes use one of three different
secondary mirror configurations, as shown below. The photographs and
descriptions will help you determine which knobs to order. |
|

|
This secondary is characterized by
a 4-vane spider, a deeply recessed center screw, and factory headless set
(grub) collimation screws. The secondary plate holding the screws is about
20 mm (3/4 inch) thick. This design is very common and is found on many
Orion XX, XT, SkyQuest, Skyview, Skywatcher, and StarBlast telescopes. Order knobs for the
Common Newtonian secondary with factory set
screws. |

 |
This secondary is characterized by
a 3-vane spider, a shallow recessed center screw, and factory Phillips collimation screws.
The secondary plate holding the screws is about 6 mm (1/4 inch) thick. This
design is found on early Orion XT telescopes. Order knobs for the
Common Newtonian secondary with factory
Phillips screws. |
